About Us
CMC Shipchandlers Ltd was started by Charles Campbell in 1980 and originally operated from The Meadows in Cambeltown. Around 10 years later the business moved onto the pier in Cambeltown and then in the mid 1990's moved again to the present location in The Old Bakehouse.
Charles' son, Jack, joined the business in the mid 1980's and now handles all the day to day running of the busy shop as well as our sister company CMC (Boat Settlement) Ltd, which acts as an agent for local fishing boats landing prawns and scallops.
We sell all kinds of hardware and ironmongery but we specialize in chandlery. We can make up hydraulics, splice rope and wire and also do crimping. Oxygen, acetylene and propane can be supplied.
We have a wide range of customers including both local and visiting fishing boats and yachts, farms and many other local businesses. The west coast of Scotland is a very popular area for sailing and the Tarbert Yacht week always attracts large numbers of visitors.
